Afloat was founded in spring 2001 when Juho joined a gang of three jamming dudes; Mikko, Heikki and Matti. The band already had some song basis where to start creating their style. It mix-up late nineties alternative and some of this new-wave rockmetal, influenced by such bands as Weezer, Incubus, Deftones and Nirvana.
The first demo called 'So what' was made in summer 2002 and included 3 songs plus a hidden track. Band used the next half a year training new songs and in the beginning of winter, band went to Mimix Studio to record their second demo. It was a slow process and demo was finally released in spring 2003. It was titled after the band and was sold out. Afloat made few gigs but most of time went practicing new songs. And just before 3/4 of the band went to military service they recorded their third demo 'anemic third' which was released in the end of 2003.
The year 2004 was quiet time and rehearsing happened occationally. And a week after the military service was over they went to studio record 'The Morning Comes' demo. After TMC-record band spend time making new songs and doing lots of gigs and year later they were ready to catch two new songs on tape that was named "Something Like Nothing". The doors are now open for more grown up band. What comes next, even they don't know...
